The Sutton Hoo dragon is an iconic symbol from one of the most significant Anglo-Saxon archaeological discoveries—a royal burial ship dating back to the 7th century. The intricate dragon motif, found on ancient artifacts, represents power, protection, and the warrior spirit of the era.
The interment of a ship at Sutton Hoo represents the most impressive medieval grave to be discovered in Europe.
Among the unique finds of this burial are a helmet and carved ornaments with stylized images of animals and fantastic creatures, in particular dragons.
These show that the Anglo-Saxons were skilled metal workers who were able to create intricate designs with a high quality of workmanship. The original helmet and the replica illustrate the artistry of these craftsmen.
The scramasax was an essential weapon and tool for the Vikings and early medieval warriors. Used for battle, hunting, and daily tasks, it symbolized self-reliance and strength. Warriors often carried their scramasax as a mark of their skill
